At Paulozzi LPA, we are dedicated to making a real difference in our community. Recently, we donated EMPWR sleeping bag coats to help individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring they have warmth and protection during Ohio’s harsh winters. This donation is part of our ongoing efforts to support those in need and foster a stronger, more compassionate community.

Providing Warmth and Hope with EMPWR Sleeping Bag Coats

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) is a non-profit organization committed to assisting those struggling with poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness. Their mission is to serve with compassion, dignity, and respect, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of circumstance, receive the help they need.

Operating since 1865, SVDP Cleveland serves over 180,000 individuals annually across Ashland, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit, and Wayne counties. Their dedicated team of 1,800+ volunteers and members, known as Vincentians, work tirelessly to provide emergency food, shelter, and financial assistance to those in need.

One of the most unique aspects of SVDP’s mission is their person-to-person service approach. Vincentians engage directly with those they serve, fostering genuine connections and lasting support. Their blue shirts are a recognizable sign of hope and help within our communities.

How You Can Help Make a Difference

While Paulozzi LPA is proud to contribute, the fight against homelessness and poverty is ongoing—and you can be part of the solution. Here are some impactful ways to support homeless assistance programs across Ohio:

1. Make a Financial Donation

Many shelters and organizations rely on financial contributions to fund critical services such as housing assistance, food pantries, job training, and medical care. Consider donating to reputable organizations such as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, City Mission, Star House, or other local shelters.

2. Donate Clothing, Food, and Essentials

Shelters and outreach programs depend on community donations to provide necessities for those in need. Items that are always in high demand include:

  • Gently used coats, gloves, and hats
  • Blankets and sleeping bags
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Hygiene products (toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.)
  • Socks and undergarments
  • Backpacks or duffel bags

3. Volunteer Your Time

If you want to make a hands-on difference, volunteering is a great way to help. Many organizations need volunteers for:

  • Serving meals at soup kitchens
  • Assisting with job training programs
  • Sorting and distributing donated clothing and food
  • Providing legal, medical, or counseling services
  • Organizing donation drives in your community

4. Support Housing and Employment Programs

Long-term solutions to homelessness involve access to stable housing and job opportunities. Support organizations that provide temporary housing, rental assistance, job placement programs, and skills training to help individuals regain independence.

5. Advocate and Raise Awareness

One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to help is by spreading awareness. Share information about homelessness, local shelters, and community programs on social media, with friends and family, or in your workplace. Advocacy helps encourage policy changes, funding, and increased community support for shelters and homeless services.

Supporting Additional Community Initiatives

In addition to our work with SVDP, Paulozzi LPA supports other initiatives dedicated to helping homeless individuals across Ohio. We have contributed to programs that provide shelter, resources, and critical support services for both adults and youth in need, including:

  • City Mission, Cleveland – A faith-based organization offering shelter, education, and workforce development programs.
  • Star House, Columbus – A 24/7 youth shelter providing a safe environment, stability, and essential resources for homeless teens and young adults.

These contributions reinforce our commitment to strengthening Ohio communities and assisting those facing housing insecurity.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

At Paulozzi LPA, we believe our work extends beyond legal advocacy—we are dedicated to positively impacting our community by supporting organizations that provide essential assistance to those in need. Whether fighting for accident victims, protecting the rights of the injured, or contributing to charitable causes, our firm is built on the principles of justice, service, and compassion.

A small act of kindness can spark meaningful change—let’s build a brighter future together.
