Tyler’s Law

Ohio made national news in 2017 when a ride malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus. As a result of the accident, several people were injured and a teenage boy was killed. Over a year later, a girl who was injured in the accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury died from her injuries.

In response to this incident, the Ohio Senate passed a bill named after Tyler Jarell, the boy who was killed in the 2017 incident. Tyler’s Law attempts to strengthen safety inspection standards and requires qualified individuals to be conducting the inspections. The law was signed by the Governor in 2019.
